For many, Manhattan Beach is a favorite beach in greater Los
Angeles. And really, there’s a lot to like about the beach. It has a
laid-back vibe, a lack of crowds compared to higher-profile beaches, and
close proximity to restaurants, bars and shops that makes it a favorite for
both locals and those who live inland.
The most obvious first impression of Manhattan Beach is the amazing views,
either of the ocean or the extremely expensive homes along the beach. The
water is known to be clean, as is the beach. But when you’re not on the sand,
there is also plenty to see and do right at Manhattan Beach.
The area at the base of Manhattan Beach Pier is full of restaurants, bars,
boutiques and shops just steps from the sand. The dining and drink choices
come in all flavors and price ranges, from dive bars to more upscale options,
for breakfast, lunch or dinner. If shopping is your thing when you’re done in
the sun, you won’t be disappointed by the wide range of retail stores within
walking distance, including several popular small shops and boutiques.
The Strand walkway and Beach Bike Path bring walkers, bikers and strollers out for the
afternoon in both directions to other beach communities, making Manhattan
Beach easily accessible. If you’re down for more than just lounging in the
sun, surfing is always an option or there are plenty of volleyball nets right
next to the pier.
“I love Manhattan Beach!” said one Yelper. “So close to LA, yet such a different vibe! Love the
downtown, the pier, the food, all around great vibes going on here. It is
super clean, plenty of parking (all meters). Easy to walk everywhere, just a
pretty little beach town right at the airport, though you feel miles away
from the buzz going on all around you, love coming here every time!”
The Manhattan Beach Pier offers some amazing views and is a popular
destination for locals who enjoy listening to the waves at night. The pier is
home to the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and
Aquarium, a great place to
take the kids.
You will also find an adequate amount of the typical beach amenities here,
including restrooms, parking and bike racks.
